Dec.17.01

We closed today! Woooo! It was a whirlwind of papers and people, all of them talking at once and telling you to sign, sign, sign, and initial. And sign. After we closed, we went right over to the house and spent time looking around and being excited. The sellers, kind folk that they are, left us a gift basket and a bottle of champagne. What nice people!

The first thing we did (after the house blessing) was start sanding and painting over the three murals that were painted by the seller. You'd think we'd feel guilty, but no. They are so, so bad. Michaelangelo's (sp?) David??? Ugh. Soon there will be nothing there but nice, smooth, white Kilz-covered wall. Have you ever painted with Kilz? It's the stuff that covers everything so you don't have bleed-through. They are not joking when they say you need pa-lenty of ventilation. Even though we had the ceiling fan and several windows open, we still got high from the fumes! Hoo boy! We only got one wall completely done before we couldn't take it anymore. There's time to do the other two before moving day (Thursday), but I don't even want to open that can again. Scary stuff! I still feel a little funny! I can't wait 'til we're done with it!

Oh my god. We have a house. I can't believe it.
